Then and Now
The Bar Association of Springfield Missouri was established October 17, 1903 with the following objective:
To maintain the Honor and Dignity of the Profession of Law, to cultivate social interaction among its members, to promote legal science, and to Advance Justice.
Today the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association has over 900 members. The SMBA continues to foster the mission established over 100 years ago with activities, events and educational opportunities for its members.
The SMBA offers over one hundred hours of MCLE every year
The SMBA has a number of social and ceremonial events designed to engage the bar and the community.
Include the SMBA Bar News, monthly newsletter, the SMBA Bar Bell, weekly e-newsletter, and periodically specialty publications.
The SMBA has over twenty committees. Committee focuses include area of law affinity, events and public outreach.
